QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's or advanced degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Linux/Unix Systems Administration (RHEL, CentOS, FreeBSD)
Networking (CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS) - (Optional)
Database Administration (MySQL, Oracle, DB2)
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Telecom Information technology.
SKILL SET: A minimum of five years direct, substantive knowledge and experience with the design, installation, maintenance, development of the Tivoli Netcool Fault Manager (TNFM) Solution.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to interact professionally with executives, customers, vendors and department staff. Excellent analytical, organizational, time management and problem solving skills are essential.
Telco/Network Operation Center experience desired. Previous consulting and/or project management experience preferred.
JOB DESCRIPTION: As a Tivoli Netcool/OmniBus (Fault Monitoring) developer, the successful candidate is responsible for providing development and implementation support (capability enhancements, etc.) for the various Netcool component systems. These include Omnibus and Probes, WebGUI, WebTOP, JaZZ, Impact, ITM, Cognos/BI Reporting, and IBM Tivoli Network Manager (ITNM).
The individual will apply an organization-wide set of disciplines for the planning, analysis, design, and implementation of customer business requirements on an enterprise-wide basis.
They will be responsible for assisting with the integration with other NMS, devices(switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls, etc) and external ticketing systems.
The individual will prepare and submit change requests, implementation plans, test plans, user guides, training guides and other required documentation in support of capabilities for the Netcool systems.
Create and provide recurring and ad-hoc reports of various network statistics
Previous direct support working with current Tivoli Netcool tools include Configuration, Installation, Implementation, and Troubleshooting issues with Tivoli Netcool v7.+ on an Enterprise class network.
Collaborate with and brief various internal departments to assess near- and long-term Netcool architecture and capacity needs and recommend appropriate solutions to new problems.
Ability to work with business to identify rules and correlation opportunities to enhance the user experience when using Netcool to monitor alarms.
Create and maintain Tivoli Netcool documentation as it relates to testing, reporting, process, and service records.
Design and assist with deploying Netcool and appropriate rulesets on LANs, WANs, and other related networking infrastructure supporting Network Services.
Conduct research on improved network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments with the product as well as implement new and existing equipment, hardware, and software standards and system upgrades.
